Ask students if fractions are important or fun to learn about? Tell them to raise hand if they think ⅛ is bigger than 1/4. Call up one of those kids. Ask another to explain why ¼ is bigger and give them ¼ of Hershey bar, while other gets ⅛ . I’ve also requested a donation of a class set of bars, so that I could tell the class that no one can eat until they prove they understand fractions.
