Well, this list was meant to be helpful, but just looks stressful! How about we just use it as a confidence booster when we question what we contribute? Or, a visual reminder that we are not God (cause I’m pretty sure Jesus would be the only person able to accomplish all this… using miracles) and shouldn’t expect ourselves to finish this many tasks! Not to mention that you won’t be making the big bucks, getting promoted, or even appreciated for completing most of these.
If you are a new mom and/or breastfeeding, go ahead and call the next year a time to pause! I remember crying to my husband and friends that I did “nothing” all day. He so kindly told me to make one goal a day and if a shower was it, be proud! A friend gave wise counsel to make a list of every time I fed (or pumped while someone else fed), changed a diaper, soothed a cry, and other meaningless (but providing life and joy to a tiny human) tasks, that I check those off and feel accomplished. You cannot (so don’t try) complete that checklist without losing your mind. Give yourself grace that this is only a season and will go faster than you can imagine. Remind yourself, “The days are long, but the years are short.”
If you work outside the home as well, YOU ARE TRULY SUPERWOMAN! I pray you have help with all this because I’m sure what you are letting go of is self care. Please take care of yourself. Your entire family needs you to be well. Give yourself double the grace, as it is humanly impossible to keep up with all of this, plus a job! Here is a blog from one of my faves to help your perspective.
On a different note, my husband said I need to add patience on my list! 😂 Sorry, but not sorry. I think this ship sails smoothly when all the kids are trained to help accomplish these things in a timely manner. It shouldn’t take 6 minutes to put your shoes on, right?
Good luck and best wishes, Mommas! Feel free to click “enable editing,” make desired changes, print, and slip into a page protector, while using a dry erase marker to get your 3 checks goal today! This is the most difficult job we’ll ever have, especially emotionally. However, witnessing successes and acknowledging that YOU helped mold that child will keep ya motivated. So, the next time your child says, “Yes, Ma’am,” and put those shoes on in record time, you pat yourself on the back and take the rest of the day off! 😂
