Lesson Plans

Some of you have asked for sample lesson plans. Please note that I’ve been out of the loop for EIGHT years and it’s been a squeaking start getting back into this. I also forgot how time consuming it is to search through millions of ideas online.

I am improving little by little each week, so keep scrolling through the lesson plans I linked below! 😉 My original goal was to find a way for my son to be social with others every day, however, that is more of a struggle than I had hoped. Another concern is time. If he is into a lesson and hesitant to stop, I use this as a blessing and allow him to continue. He worked on DuoLingo for two hours one day! Our field trips take awhile, as well.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to do bible study every day and also having a goal to serve others as often as possible. My son received the children’s version of “Jesus Calling” as a gift. It has been such an awesome supplement to our lesson plans.

I had to remove Fridays because we aren’t getting everything completed in the first 4 days. The awesome news, we’ve had an such a blast with what we did accomplish!

For math, I’ve been pulling out old lesson plans, spending lots of time on Pinterest, YouTube, and using some of these ideas I’ve tried to gather to help others.

For reading, I’m a firm believer that you need to find books that interest your child. We go to the library once a week and stand at the computer typing in keywords that they request. I also search for books on our Science and Social Studies topics. Then, we use skills and processing to locate the books.

I feel the same way about writing. The quality is so much more evident if you allow your child to choose the topic. You can teach most skills within the content they complete independently. My son said he’d like to start a blog to teach others tricks for video games. I will probably add it to this site, since I already paid for a 3 year subscription. He’ll probably end up getting more views than me! HA!

If you don’t already have it, please load the DuoLingo app on your phone and all devices. It’s free and amazing. It does teach them how to say beer and wine in Spanish, but what better way for your children to demonstrate their skills than to say, “Necesito cervesa!?”

I’ve been very impressed with the Science curriculum we purchased through the school. They integrate the bible and offer a challenging curriculum with engaging experiments to do from home.

Here are some of the drafted ideas from our lesson plans. If you are trying to do this alone, notice how often I attempt to home-school other kids. Not only does it facilitate my goal to foster social skills, but also gives you a chance to work together with other mommas.

Good luck, Mommas! You’ve got this!
