We’ve had a week of sicknesses with 3 separate kids and come to realize that these are as different, yet similar, as the personalities of these said children!
Here is a perfect representative, I found, as to why:
One lasts longer: Motrin (aka Ibuprofen/ Advil/ NSAID) can only be given every 6 hours), but is tough on the stomach. However, because childrens is twice as strong, its more difficult to convert dosage, especially at 3am! So, for our future reference (please correct me if I’m wrong), here is rest of infants chart:
2-3 year olds need 2.5mL
4-5 year olds need 3.75mL
6-7 year olds need 5mL
9-10 year olds need 6.25 mL
11 year olds need 7.5mL
Reminder for above….
the strength is different for infants and children;therefore, more difficult to convert . Whereas, Tylenol is the same.
Tylenol/ Acetaminophen can only be given every 4 hours, but can be used by newborns thru 6 months, unlike Motrin.
**** Remember to never give your child aspirin!
