We’ve had an emotional week trying to navigate this very question. The most challenging part is how many factors come into play. In order to respect our finances, we need to factor how much my decision will cost. To meet the needs of each child, discovering each temperament and different learning style is essential. If my goal is to truly raise them up the way they will go, I need to enhance their strengths and hone in on their weaknesses.
What is Your Approach?
I’m a verbal processor, so my favorite approach is to seek wise council. If you don’t have any in your life, please connect with the local church and request a mentor. It’s kind of like teachers though, there are some awesome ones and ones that are giving a bad name to the profession. Please be cautious to ensure its the right fit for you. Keep searching until you find one you can trust.
Once You Find One, Be One
As much as I love to talk, I’ve been working on listening. I struggle with wanting to dominate the conversation, so I thank my wise council village for being patient with me. I’m ready to be yours, please call me and give me a chance! 😉
Maybe You’re Analytical
If that’s the case, making a list of pros and cons is helpful. Highlight or mark them as two for the ones that mean the most to you. The grass could actually be greener on the other side, but you won’t know until you explore that option.
Prepare Yourself
Be ready to hear, “No!” Maybe God will respond, “Not yet.” In our situation, He actually kept repeating the option I was too selfish to choose.
Is that Really God?
A lot of people say they cant hear God speaking. I tend to believe they aren’t mentally prepared to hear Him. It’s a very soft and subtle whisper, so you need to be in intentional prayer without distractions around you. To me, proof is when we don’t want to hear that specific answer!
Now What Do I Do With God’s Response
OBEY! OBEY! OBEY! And, do it with a force and speed you fantasize about your children obeying you! God will open and close the doors when He sees your efforts and your changed heart.
Pure Satisfaction
Even though what I did was interfering with my selfish plan of having two days to myself each week and it will require SO much effort, God arranged for three separate things to happen since I made my decision. I honestly felt like He was whispering, “See, trust me and I’ll take care of the obstacles.”
Life is Scary
It’s a blessing to have choices, but also overwhelming. Luckily, you have a king on your side that created you and cares for you more deeply than your most favorite thing in this whole world! Yep, even more than coffee!
